Car incentives 2024: do the new ecobonuses start at the end of May?

We are excited for the new ones ecobonouswhose return should be soon, by the end of May, we are talking about the date of Tuesday 21 May. There is great anticipation, because the desire to buy a new car, perhaps an electric one, has remained on standby precisely to take advantage of the new incentives. We are just waiting for the Prime Ministerial Decree to be published in the Official Journal: in the meantime, efforts are being made to update the online platform through which dealers will be able to request the expected discount which will then be applied to the cars that will be sold.

Electric, petrol, diesel, hybrid? What a mess the car market is

The new Ecobonus

One of the new features regarding the new ecobonuses concerns the maximum contributionor with scrapping a class vehicle up to Euro 0, 1 and 2 to purchase a new electric car, which will rise up to 13,750 euros if you have an ISEE income of no more than 30,000 euros per year.Again with this ISEE, if a Euro 3 vehicle is scrapped, the contribution will be 12,500 euros, 11,500 euros for scrapping a Euro 4 car and 8,000 euros for scrapping a Euro 5 car.

If instead you decide to scrap a polluting car and get a plug-in hybrid (ISEE always under 30 thousand euros), you will have a discount ranging from 5 thousand euros if a Euro 5 is scrapped, up to 10 thousand if it is a Euro 0, 1 and 2. If the car is not scrapped, the incentives for electric cars will range from 6 thousand euros up to 7,500, with ISEE under 30,000 euros.

The new Ecobonus will be based on a scheme of three bands based on vehicle emissions:

  • 0-20 g/km, i.e. electric cars;
  • 21-60 g/km, plug-in hybrid cars, vehicles with dual thermal and electric fuel;
  • 61-135 g/km, cars with petrol, diesel, gas and hybrid engines (full and mild).

There are also three maximum spending limits for the purchase of cars with low polluting emissions:

  • 42,700 euros for electric cars (0-20 g/km);
  • 42,700 euros for internal combustion vehicles (61-135 g/km);
  • 54,900 euros for plug-in hybrid cars (21-60 g/km).
