After a day and night of emergency, in Milan and the province, the water level has dropped and in many areas the situation has improved, but in the Lombardy capital the level of the Lambro is still worrying, just below emergency levels. In the city, the Local Police specified, Via Feltre was reopened around 7 am, but in the Ponte Lambro district the river is still just below the edges. The weather should create a window of time for the water to retreat further but a worsening is feared in the evening.

According to the rescuers in the field reached by telephone by ANSA, the situation is still uncertain, especially between Gessate and Bellinzago Lombardo, in the Milan area, heavily affected by the bad weather of the last 24 hours, and everything will depend on how much rain falls this afternoon. “We think we have a window of a few hours to try to sort things out further – explains a coordinator – but then the rain should return. If it’s light, we should be able to manage the situation, if it’s heavy there could still be serious trouble” . At the moment the weather forecast predicts heavy rainfall but not as heavy as yesterday. “Every year we are here screaming, victims of the same fate – say the students who are helping the neighbors and the inhabitants – it is not possible that there are areas of the most advanced region of Italy where citizens are condemned to suffer this situation”.
