The Philanthropic foundations in Cesenaunited by a concrete commitment to support the recovery of the area after the floodhave crossed an important threshold: over 5 million euros were raised to finance initiatives and projects aimed at restarting.

The Cassa di Risparmio di Cesena, Fruttadoro Orogel and Romagna Solidale Foundations, already linked by a collaboration agreement signed in 2021, strengthened their commitment following the flood in May 2023, coordinating – despite the autonomy and specificity of each institution – their actions to maximize the effectiveness of their intervention during the emergency. On that occasion, the coordination activity was informally extended to the Cesena Lions Club organization and the Azimut Foundation.

One year after the disastrous event, the representatives of these five realities met to make the point of the situation and evaluate the results of the agreed actions.

Overall, they were made available to the territory, in various ways, 5,394,000 euros.

In detail, the Crc Foundationthanks to the support of the Association of Banking Foundations of Emilia Romagna and the National Association, has allocated 470,000 euros, the Romagna Solidarity Foundation 850,000 eurosfrom the Azimut Foundation received 47,000 euros and from Lions Club 27,000 euros. The commitment of Fondazione Orogel amounted to around 4 million euros, also including interventions not strictly connected to the flood emergency, but linked to the general crisis of the agricultural sector, also due to previous damaging events.

From the over 5 million euros made available by the Cesena Foundations, a wide series of interventions have emerged to encourage the restart, with actions to support families, businesses and entities that suffered serious damage during the flood. Just to name a few, we range from distribution of shopping vouchers for families at refreshment points for the purchase of household appliances, from the implementation of the Fund of the Municipality of Cesena in support of tenants affected by the flood to the restoration of damaged infrastructure, up to direct aid for associations involved in social work, to allow the resumption of their activity.

The results achieved, both in economic and organizational terms, demonstrate the validity of the coordination experience and all the subjects involved underlined the importance of continuing on this path, also sharing the intention to extend the signed agreement also to the Lions Club and to involve other similar realities, to evaluate their willingness to participate in joint solidarity actions.
