Spring on “holiday”, at least for a few days. In fact, a rather eventful phase is starting this week, with rain and thunderstorms that started yesterday evening, and which will last at least until Friday. Temperatures dropping, particularly in the highs, but due more to bad weather than to the arrival of actual cold air.
In Turin we will therefore have mostly cloudy or very cloudy skies, with some flashes of clear sky further east. In the afternoon strong convective activity with showers and thunderstorms on the Alpine belt and also on the plains between Cuneo and Turin, which will only end in the late evening.
Maximum temperatures decreasing and between 20 and 21 °C. Winds mostly absent or weak and variable, this could favor the stationarity of the storms with even high quantities of rain locally. Very strong gusts possible in the presence of the same storms.
From Tuesday 14th to Thursday 16th May the arrival of low pressure over France will cause the currents at altitude to rotate on average from the southern quadrants. This will lead to the arrival of disturbances with scattered rain and thunderstorms, in some cases like Wednesday even widespread, and temporary pauses, which will be particularly intense in the northern Alpine sectors, with the possibility of flooding and swollen rivers. All this also due to a snow level almost always above 2000 m.
Temperatures further decreasing in maximum temperatures, with values between 16 and 19 °C. The minimum temperatures will also be slightly decreasing, and between 12 and 14 °C. Ground winds generally weak and mainly from the north-eastern quadrants. Strong gusts of wind coming out of thunderstorms are always possible.
For the following days, at the moment, the trend indicates a continuation of unstable conditions until the weekend, but in milder ways than in the next few days. We will know more in future updates.
