LECCE – Fire night in Salento where three arson fires destroyed two cars and a van. The first episode in Salice Salentino, in via Salvatore Quasimodo: a Renault Kadjar owned by the municipal budget councilor Amedeo Rosato, 52 years old, was on fire. The man is a bailiff at the Lecce court. There was also slight damage to the facade of a house located in the immediate vicinity.
Subsequently, the firefighters intervened in Copertino, in via Lepanto, due to the fire in a Range Rover Freeland owned by a 70-year-old pensioner. Same scene shortly afterwards in Gallipoli where, in Corso Roma, flames destroyed a Fiat 900 van owned by a 42-year-old local businesswoman, event organiser.
The police are investigating all the incidents.

«Our community woke up shocked by a news story that we never imagined we would be able to record: during the night unknown persons set fire to the car of the local police and budget councilor Amedeo Rosato. Person known in the village, esteemed, both as a professional and as an administrator. The climate of fear and tension that such episodes create for the rights involved, for their families, and for an entire community, is not adequate for a society that wants to consider itself civil.
Trusting in the activity of the police to shed light on this serious episode and understand exactly what happened, its origin and dynamics, we firmly condemn any targeted actions, we express total solidarity with Amedeo Rosato and we guarantee total collaboration to those who investigate” .
