Warehouse fire in Darsena

Viareggio – A fire that broke out in the early morning seriously damaged a warehouse in via Paolo Savi in Darsena, the same one where a pine tree fell on the roof a few days ago

The building in the past belonged to the Versilia Supply service company, which subsequently changed hands and is currently used as a storage warehouse where there are 21 tenant companies.

The material inside, as confirmed by the firefighters, is of the most disparate variety but from a first examination there should be no toxic materials present.

The first to intervene once they realized what was happening were the employees of Versilia Supply, whose headquarters are adjacent to the warehouse.

On Via Paolo Savi, 5 fire brigade teams arrived, with the help of the ladder truck, who took steps to extinguish the flames which were also attacking the roof with the risk of it collapsing.

Staff worked inside the building with the aid of respirators due to thick black smoke mainly caused by burning plastic materials.

It is not the first time that a fire has affected one of the warehouses in this area. Last July, another building was completely destroyed, this time owned by Versilia Supply and in that case the finger was pointed at the inefficiency of the hydrants present, hydrants which, in this case, were all found to be working.
