There is just under a month left until the next local and European elections, and also in Staranzano the electoral campaign is getting more and more lively. This morning, in the central Piazza Dante and a few meters from the center-left gazebos, the League officially presented its list of candidates for the City Council, in support of Giuliano Venudo’s run for mayor.

To warm up the atmosphere, on a day already kissed by a summer sun, some of the greatest local and national exponents of the Northern League came. In fact, in addition to the candidate for the European Parliament and mayor of Monfalcone Anna Maria Cisint, there were also the Spilimbergo senator Marco Dreosto, the regional councilor for State Property Sebastiano Callari, the regional councilor Antonio Calligaris and the provincial secretary of the League Paolo Bearzi, who coordinated the various interventions.

Convinced support expressed today by various party representatives towards the candidates, starting with the Honorable Dreosto. The latter in particular praised the first Monfalcone town as a “concrete example of our class of good administrators at the service of the community”. Furthermore, for the senator, his role is fundamental in “the fight against an extremist Islam which is increasingly cornering the Christian culture of these lands, even putting one’s own person at risk”, referring to the fact that Cisint has been under guard for some time.

Naturally, there was no lack of words of support – again from Dreosto – addressed to the candidate for mayor of Staranzano: «I believe that only with his good governance will it be possible to bring new air to the benefit of the community, as demonstrated by the various Northern League administrators, always close to the territory”.

Statements shared by those present and endorsed by Cisint itself, for which «Giuliano with his professional experience – for 37 years he worked in the local bank – will allow small businesses in the area to look to the future with optimism». Furthermore, «to further strengthen the ability to provide answers to citizens – Cisint continued – there is also the fact that we are aligned with the current national government».

An element also reiterated by Callari, for whom “every time one of our ministers comes to government, things change in that ministry”. Something that the councilor hoped would also happen in Staranzano, a municipality administered for decades by the centre-left. The centre-right is therefore betting on alternation even in the small Bisian municipality and – as the mayoral candidate himself recalled – it is doing so «with a team made up of five lists, 72 director candidates and approximately 400 subscribersthe”.

For Venudo – who has always been keen to reiterate his “civic” nature – the importance of the role of parties is an awareness that has gradually developed, “since a year and a half ago I decided to get involved”. «The turning point – so always the candidate for mayor – came last December 28th, when Cisint and other exponents of the centre-right convinced me to take the field. There I understood that doing it alone, with my civic list, would have been a bit like a Don Quixote battle against windmills.”

The Carroccio list
There are 16 Northern League candidates presented today by coordinator Tiziana Maioretto: Fulvio Fragiacomo, Andrea Burlini, Annalisa Visintin, Armando Furlani, Martina Pellizon, Costantino Zulini, Edmondo Cappello, Barbara Peluffo, Giorgio Garonna, Ivan Scarpin, Laura Gruden, Tommaso Lucchini, Martin Furlan , Nicola Gerini, Alex Cocolet and Paola Bonaldo. A list made up of five women and eleven men, the youngest of which, Cocolet, was born in 2001, while the oldest, Cappello (known to most as Edi), was born in 1946.

There are not only members of the armed forces, active duty or retired, but also a security guard, a firefighter volunteer and several employees and representatives of the local business community. Called to present themselves in front of the group of supporters, from the various stories they told a common element emerged, expressed in summary by Edi, now retired after a life in the Navy: «I love the League, freedom and I want the Italians are masters of their own territory.”
