“Death Denied”: the documentary film that tells the dark side of the Covid emergency

“With the motivation of the restrictions, family members were prevented from being close to their loved ones, from holding their hand”. The testimonies of the victims’ families build the plot of the docufilm “Denied Death”, directed by the director and filmmaker Alessandro Amori for Playmastemovie

The long-awaited documentaryDeath Denied” aroused deep interest as it continued its tour through Italian cinemas. The work, which addresses one of the most dramatic aspects linked to the Covid emergency, offered a touching snapshot of the experiences lived by the families of the victims during the pandemic period.

“I have my father in hospital for Covid, I understand what is happening…I lost my mother last year, now I understand how things really went…”

Through moving testimonies, the film shed light on the pain and bewilderment of those who were unable to assist their loved ones in hospital, nor have access to the truth about deaths considered “strange” or not adequately explained.

The producer Alessandro Amorifounder of Playmastermovie, – an independent production house and benefit project, and since 2020 also an online platform where productions are made available – has adopted a unique approach, offering the documentary for free and basing its distribution on voluntary donations. This choice demonstrates a genuine commitment to promoting truth and awareness, rather than pursuing profit-making goals.

“A film that highlights one of the most dramatic aspects of the pandemic, the many people who died in hospital in solitude without the comfort of their loved ones. Yes, people entered the hospital even for trivial reasons and after the positive swab, traces of their loved ones were lost – explains Amori in illustrating the contents of the docufilm – a documentary with a dry style, which leaves little room for easy emotions”. The film is making the rounds in theaters throughout Italy, giving answers, albeit dramatic, to many, too many questions.”

The event, organized by the Telegram Group “For Freedoms – Comerio Park” of Varese, was held on Friday 10 May at theGavirate Municipal Auditorium. In addition to the screening of the documentary, the audience had the opportunity to participate in an interactive conference with experts in the field, including Dr. Paolo Gulisano, Elisabetta Stellabotte and Monsignor Carlo Maria Viganò.

The evening was a unique opportunity to reflect, discuss and delve deeper into the issues raised by the documentary, offering a detailed overview of one of the darkest chapters in recent world history.
