THE EAGLE. From five years and four months in prison to four years. The Court of Appeal of L’Aquila reduced the sentence for a 63-year-old from Alfedena, who ended up in prison for the crime of mistreatment in the family towards his wife and three minor daughters, against one of whom, in November 2015, he threw a pan of boiling oil. He wanted to punish her wife but hit her daughter who was taken to hospital for treatment and care of burns. A bad history of domestic violence which, according to the prosecution, had been a regular occurrence from 2003 until 16 March 2022 when, following yet another episode of violence, the woman had refused help from the police, causing her ex to be arrested . Twenty years of abuse, humiliation, abuse, beatings and threats which had caused the offended people to fear for their own safety, to the point of forcing them to change their standard of living and turn to the judiciary. The straw that broke the camel’s back was the episode of March 16 last year when the 63-year-old went to her ex’s house to beat her, a circumstance refuted by the defense lawyer, Alessandro Margiotta. The 63-year-old ended up first in prison and then under house arrest, from which he escaped to smoke a cigarette in the street. Measure revoked and replaced with residence obligation and approach ban. The accused was defended by the lawyer, Alessandro Margiotta.
