Ita-Lufthansa, new Giorgetti-Vestager meeting on Tuesday

Rome, 10 May. (askanews) – The Minister of Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti will have a new bilateral meeting on the Ita-Lufthansa dossier with the Vice President of the European Commission, Margrethe Vestager, responsible for Community Antitrust, on Tuesday 14 May. This was reported by a spokeswoman for the European Commission.

The deadline for the EU decision on this plan was extended last Tuesday to July 4, after Lufthansa and Mef had submitted further documentation on the remedies requested by the Commission regarding its competition concerns. Giorgetti had already had a meeting with Vestager last 25 April. On Monday and Tuesday he will be in Brussels to participate in the Eurogroup and Ecofin meetings. Last Tuesday, on the occasion of the Lufthansa shareholders’ meeting, and the day after the new documents were sent to the EU, the CEO of the German group, Carsten Spohr, said he was confident in a green light for the merger for the summer.
