Kevin Drago He did not make it. The young thirty-one year old from Urgnano was involved – more than a month ago now – in an accident in Miami, where his friend lost his life Giuseppe Ghidottipassed away at Jackson Memorial Hospital on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 8, US time (in Italy the time zone is six hours longer).
The accident occurred on Easter Monday, Italian time. From that day, Kevin never regained consciousness: admitted to the American hospital, in fact, he underwent eight surgeries: head, chest, lungs, knee, arteries, collarbones. All to save his life.
First in a pharmacological coma, then a natural one, a lung infection that not even antibiotics were able to cure ultimately proved fatal for the thirty-one year old from Urgnano. Some signs of improvement, as the family explained to The Echo of Bergamo, had given rise to hope. But in the end the young man didn’t make it.
The details of the accident are still unclear
Kevin and Giuseppe met in Barcelona and in November they moved overseas, first to California and finally to Miami. The first was a house painter, the second installed glass panels. Then, on March 31 (American time), the scooter crash, in which Giuseppe – also from Urgnano – died instantly. The funeral was celebrated on April 16th.
On the nature of the accident, however, the details still remain rather vague. As the newspaper reports, in fact, the family has turned to a lawyer and hired a private investigator to shed light on the matter. Miami police have fifteen days to investigate and forty-five days to produce a report.
According to some information gathered by the investigator, it seems that the two young people were riding a scooter on the road leading to Miami Beach and crashed into a Jeep Renegade, knocking off a wheel. A reconstruction which, however, seems unlikely to the family. To bring the body back to Italy, the family members finally added, could take a very long time.
