This morning at approximately 02.20, the Railway Police officers intervened in Piazza Luigi di Savoia in Milan because a 36-year-old Egyptian citizen, who had just left the Polfer offices in Milan Central where he had been reported for robbery and resisting a public official, was stopped by going out of control and damaging street furniture.

The police attempted to stop him while he was swinging a sort of rudimentary slingshot made of stones closed inside a fabric and brandishing a piece of marble recovered from a slab that he had torn away shortly before.

The Egyptian citizen, under the influence of narcotics, lashed out violently against the operators who, to protect their own safety and that of others, used the taser supplied in an attempt to interrupt the action and, immediately afterwards, waited for continued to advance, one of the officers fired a service pistol, hitting the man in the left shoulder.

The attacker was then rescued and taken immediately to the Niguarda hospital where the doctors ascertained that the bullet had not damaged any vital organs.

Arrested for a robbery

The previous intervention that had led to the 36-year-old Egyptian being reported for robbery and resistance had been carried out outside the station by an Italian Army patrol which had requested the intervention of the Polfer. The Egyptian had robbed a Moroccan citizen who, having been taken to hospital under the green code following the attack he had suffered, had then left the emergency room, losing track of him.

The Egyptian citizen, negative in the police database, had already been reported on 24 April 2024 in Belluno as an applicant for international protection with an approved procedure. Previously he had applied to Ascoli, where the application had been rejected due to unavailability.
