Lollobrigida makes fun of Puglito with the recent agriculture decree, which completely ignored the needs of the region and Southern Italy. The president of CIA Puglia, Gennaro Sicolo, he doesn’t hide his frustration about this “colossal mockery” towards the promises made to the primary sector of the South.
An Ignored South
Sicolo underlines that the agriculture decree has forgotten Bari, Foggia, Bat, Lecce, Brindisi and Taranto, leaving the southern provinces high and dry. The key phrase “Lollobrigida makes fun of Puglia” perfectly sums up the feeling of bewilderment affecting the Apulian agricultural sector.
An unacceptable sentence
Minister Francesco Lollobrigida’s statements regarding the drought affecting the South, in particular Sicily, were defined as “shameful” from Sicolo. This sentence was perceived as a cruel confirmation of the lack of attention towards the South.
The concept of food sovereignty appears emptied of meaning for Apulian farmers, who see Granaio Italia still postponed and Xylella without concrete solutions.
Lollobrigida’s agriculture decree seems to have definitively separated North and South. Lobbies and uncontrolled imports continue to dominate, while southern agricultural companies are forced to produce at a loss. Sicolo urges all farmers to unite in protest against this “colossal mockery”.
