Croatia boasts, especially if we consider the Plitvice Lakes (Plitvička jezera) and Krka (Krka) National Parks, some of the most beautiful natural views in the world; word of Licia Colò, one of the most popular and loved Italian television characters by the public. A heritage that the Venetian blogger and science communicator has urged to be better protected by better controlling access to protected areas, whose environmental sustainability may suffer due to mass tourism. Licia Colò stated this last Thursday in Ragusa (Dubrovnik) during the award ceremony of the “Golden Pen”, the recognition that the Croatian Tourist Board (HTZ) has been awarding for twenty years to foreign journalists who have best services dedicated to the promotion of Croatia and its tourist offer. Licia Colo was awarded in tandem with the Neapolitan painter Alessandro Antonin (in the past the two were married, had a daughter together and collaborated in the professional field) by virtue of the report on the Plitvice lakes that they created for the commercial broadcaster Italian LA7.
The HTZ “Golden Pen” includes six awards: best radio reportage, best reportage published in online media, best reportage published in print media, best travel blog, best post on social networks and best television report . This year’s edition saw the involvement of around fifteen journalistic teams and bloggers from thirty-three countries. In addition to Licia Colò and Alessandro Antonino, the Grand Prix was also awarded to Adrian Chiles (United Kingdom) for a report on Morter (Murter) broadcast by the BBC radio service, to the Finnish journalist Pirjo Houni-Lundberg and to the Swedish photographer Marica Rosengård for a reportage on Plitvice Lakes published in the Finnish magazine Mondo Travel Magazinu. The Dutch Marjoleina Linstra and Danny van der Meijden were awarded for the best travel blog, while the Germans Sohi Malih and Elisa Malih were awarded for the best post published on social networks.
All of them, but also the other journalists, photographers, operators and bloggers (almost fifty people in total) involved were given the opportunity to stay in Croatia until May 10th and thus get to know the country and its attractions even better. During the study trip, visits to Sabbioncello (Pelješac), the valley of the Neretva river (Neretva) and the area of Old Ragusa (Cavtat) are planned, as well as other picturesque locations.
