I buy illegal gold, inside kilos of gold and precious stones

Businesses and jewels were seized, while the owner was reported. The operation carried out by the financial police

PROVINCE OF PISTOIA — Owner reported, assets and valuables seized: this is the result of an operation by the financial police who in the province of Pistoia identified an illegal ‘gold purchase’, without a license or registration in the sector registers, with 10 kilos inside gold and jewels.

Not only that, however, because the financiers, in analyzing all the purchase and sale operations, detected systematic and repeated violations of the anti-money laundering legislation, consisting of 243 omissions of adequate customer verification and 162 cases of incompleteness in the compilation of the documentation on the purchases of precious metals. For this reason the owner risks fines of up to 60 thousand euros.

Added to these were the 258 euro fine already applied for starting the business without a license, which also resulted in the closure of the business for another 10 days.

The Fiamme Gialle then verified the origin of the jewellery, with a total value of approximately 64 thousand euros, which was found to be legitimate. For his part, the owner regularized his position, so the business was released from seizure and was able to resume legal operations within about a month.
