This morning, Thursday 9 May, the Prefect of Savona Carlo De Rogatis received the mayor of Albenga Riccardo Tomatis and a representation of the workers of the San Michele Clinic.

The Mayor expressed, on behalf of the workers, concerns regarding the future of the Clinic relating to the possibility that the ASL decides not to renew the agreement for functional rehabilitation with it. The Prefect underlined that employment issues related to the territory are his responsibility. Given the uncertainty of the news, currently disseminated exclusively through the press, Mayor Tomatis and the workers have agreed to proceed with the request for further information, committing to inform the Prefect in case of further developments.

The workers of the San Michele Clinic say: “It was very important to be received by the Prefect, who took our cause to heart. There are around 80 workers and their families who, if the agreement for functional rehabilitation were not renewed, would see their working future at risk, in addition to the serious damage that the territory would suffer by losing an excellence such as that represented by the San Michele Clinic. We will see in the coming weeks and months if there is any news on the topic and, in the meantime, we will continue to keep our attention high.”

The mayor of Albenga will submit a request to be able to view the private individuals’ proposal for the Santa Maria di Misericordia Hospital and will also contact the local health authority to obtain further clarifications on the matter.
