In Palermo, at the Institute of Forensic Medicine of the Polyclinic, autopsies were carried out on three of the five workers who were victims of the workplace massacre in Casteldaccia last Monday 6 May. They are Giuseppe La Barbera, Epifanio Alsazia and Ignazio Giordano. It emerged that the workers’ lungs were completely blocked by the killer gas, hydrogen sulphide, which irreversibly damaged the airways. Giordano’s funeral will take place tomorrow, at 9.30 am in the Mother Church of Partinico. Today the autopsies on Roberto Raneri and Giuseppe Miraglia. In the meantime, investigations have revealed that the workers of the “Quadrifoglio Group” were neither qualified nor equipped for an intervention at six meters of depth. This is why the subcontracting mechanism that allowed “Quadrifoglio” to work on various construction sites is also being investigated. It is suspected that workers with an inadequate professional profile were also employed elsewhere. The Termini Imerese Prosecutor’s Office has ordered the seizure of the company and the correspondence of the orders obtained.
