Rome, 10 May – Codacons made this announcement on 8 May, practically coinciding with AstraZeneca’s official announcement of the withdrawal of its anti-Covid vaccine from the market VaxzevriaThat “the ASL 3 of Genoa and the hospital medical commission of La Spezia have given the green light to a substantial compensation in favor of a Genoese citizen who in 2021 underwent the AstraZeneca anti-Covid vaccination, immediately reporting serious adverse reactions”.

For the consumer association it is about “an important victory in terms of damage from anti-Covid vaccination”: the citizen, supported and supported by Codacons in the legal matter, was awarded compensation for the serious adverse reactions suffered following the administration of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

This was communicated by the consumer association itself, which reconstructs the story in a note: “FEP (these are the initials of the 37-year-old citizen residing in Genoa) underwent the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine on 26 March 2021. 2 weeks after the injection, a hematoma appears on the left hemithorax and the situation worsens after the second dose of the vaccine, which took place on 10 June 2021, when he noticed red spots on his ankles and hematomas on his buttocks. He went to the emergency room of the San Martino hospital in Genoa, where he was hospitalized and medical tests revealed immune-mediated thrombocytopenia (ITP), a disease characterized by the drastic reduction in the number of circulating platelets due to their destruction and suppression of production. And again, on November 26, 2021 she was diagnosed ‘complete occlusion of the basilic vein on the right in its humeral section by TVS and complete occlusion of the cephalic vein in the forearm section by TVS’. Pathologies which, in addition to hospitalization and frequent medical checks, will force the citizen to undergo specific treatments and therapies based on cortisone”.

Following all this, the patient turns to Codacons to obtain legal assistance, with the association starting the process aimed at obtaining compensation for vaccination damage provided for by law 210/92.

The Military Legal Medicine Department of La Spezia, territorially competent, at the request of ASL 3 acquired the documentation and, after having subjected the citizen to a health assessment, “has now established the causal link between vaccination and the onset of the reported pathologies – informs Codacons – writing in the minutes that ‘the onset of chronic immune-mediated thrombocytopenia (ITP) which affected Mr FEP a few days after the first vaccination procedure with the AstraZeneca vaccine for Covid-19 certainly constitutes a serious adverse reaction (harmful and unintentional response to a vaccination for which it is possible to establish a causal or concausal relationship with the vaccination itself), potentially triggered by the procedure itself, in a previously healthy subject'”.

The ASL 3 of Genoa and the hospital medical commission of La Spezia have thus given the green light to compensation to the citizen for damage caused by vaccination, Codacons informs, “considered the ‘permanent impairment of psychophysical integrity’, with a lifetime compensation in the form of a bimonthly check equal to, according to the latest ministerial tables, 1,740.77 euros”.
