This afternoon, the Officina Multicultural Center hosted a significant electoral meeting promoted by the Democratic Party, led by the lawyer Maria Flavia Timbro, already a member of parliament in the XVIII legislature and candidate in the European elections on 8 and 9 June.
The event, entitled “At the Roots of Commitment”, was an opportunity for discussion and discussion on crucial issues such as Europe, work and youth participation. Timbro, in its role as promoter of the initiative, underlined the importance of creating spaces for debate and reflection, especially in a context such as that of the electoral campaign, which allows months of activity to be condensed into weeks of intense interaction with citizens.
The day of the meeting, May 9, was carefully chosen for its symbolic meaning: Europe Day, an occasion to celebrate the values of unity and peace, but also to commemorate two tragic historical events for the Italy and Sicily, or the discovery of the body of Aldo Moro and the murder of Peppino Impastato. For Timbro, who has a long history of commitment to the anti-mafia and a deep respect for the institutions, these two events represent the embodiment of values and principles to which he has dedicated his political and human commitment.
The meeting was attended by PD leaders, trade unionists, representatives of the youth and student world, as well as prominent personalities such as the Regional Secretary Anthony Barbagallo, the Honorable Calogero Leanza and Senator Antonio Nicita, also a candidate in the European elections. The presence of figures of political and social importance contributed to making the event a moment of constructive discussion and sharing of ideas and plans for the future.
Timbro concluded the meeting by underlining the importance of facing future challenges with a spirit of collaboration and personal commitment, recalling that the real challenges are not only electoral in nature, but above all concern civic conscience and active participation in community life.
