The Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, representing the Government, participated this morning in the ceremony in memory of the victims of terrorism, during which the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, placed a wreath of flowers under the plaque commemorating the place where the body of the Honorable Aldo Moro was found.
The owner of the Interior Ministry then took part in the celebrations dedicated to the anniversary in the Senate of the Republic.
«On May 9, 46 years ago, after 55 days of imprisonment, the Honorable Aldo Moro was barbarously murdered by the red brigades.
After his kidnapping and the massacre of the five agents of his escort, the murder of the statesman represented the most tragic epilogue of the crazy plan with which the terrorists attempted, unsuccessfully, to undermine the foundations of our Republic.
An attack on the heart of the State that profoundly marked the politics and history of the country.
Today, in remembering with emotion the figure of the president of the Christian Democracy, we celebrate the Day in memory of the victims of terrorism, honoring all those who lost their lives or were injured at the hands of those who, with blind violence, aimed to destabilize the our democracy.

In 2007 the Republic, with the law of 4 May 2007, n.56, recognized 9 May as “Remembrance Day” to remember all the victims of terrorism, internal and international, and of the massacres of this kind.
