Checks in progress by the Fire Brigade, in the late afternoon today, in Vado Ligure in the area of the geodesic basketball ball in via Petrarca near the Segno stream, due to a report of a strong smell of gas which instead turned out to be, from the first moments, the leakage of an unidentified substance.
The nature of the substance that apparently escaped in the form of fumes from a manhole is uncertain, and is also being investigated with the help of the police and ASL2 personnel.
The NBCR (nuclear, biological, chemical, radiological) team of Genoa, which intervened in support, detected exaltations of toxic chemical substances thanks to the instruments. As a precaution, the area has been zoned and further investigations are being carried out to identify the substance.
In the meantime, the pedestrian bridge in Via Petrarca has been closed off to allow the checks to be carried out correctly.
