A dramatic episode occurred today in Omignano, where a young man non-EU citizen of 25 years attempted to take one’s own life using the gas. Luckily, the alarm it was triggered promptly and the 118 health workers intervened promptly on the spot.

An ambulance from the Misericordia di Vallo della Lucania, type B, was sent, although unfortunately without the presence of a doctor on board, as the ambulance with the doctor was engaged in another urgent rescue.

At the moment, the causes of this tragic extreme attempt by the young non-EU citizen are not yet clear and will be the subject of investigation by the competent authorities. It is essential to understand the reasons which pushed the boy to make such a drastic decision, in order to be able to offer the support and the help needed to prevent similar situations in the future.

After a timely intervention by the health workers, the young man was released rushed to San Luca hospitalwhere it is currently hospitalized and receives the necessary care. His life was saved.
