Letizia of Spain she had already introduced herself with a strong pain on her right foot at her husband Felipe’s 40th flag swearing-in, where she was also joined by her eldest daughter, Princess Leonor. The reason for this suffering was due to fracture of a finger.
As the Royal House later explained, Queen Letizia was the victim of a domestic accident. In fact, she hit her foot against a table and broke her finger on impact. The doctors recommended ice and complete rest. But Donna Letizia did not want to give up her Court commitments, three in three days. She too many to skip and so she opted for a different solution. That is to wear flat, soft and wide shoes, instead of pumps and obviously no heels. The Queen herself explained that she was unlucky “but this won’t cure me. I didn’t know I broke my foot until I had the x-ray. She will wear wide shoes for some time”.
