ROME – The car market in Italy starts to rise again, also thanks to two more working days, which marks a growth of 7.5% in April with 136,920 cars compared to 127,346 in the same month of 2023. Also in the cumulative figure from January Registrations rose with 594,346 units against 560,021 for an increase of 6.1%. With regards to power supplies, the prolonged wait for the incentives, which will not become law before mid-May, also penalizes the electric and plug-in hybrid models in the fourth month of the year, which lose 19.6% and 26.1% respectively, in addition to the diesel cars (-21.8%). Here are the 10 most requested cars in the month.

1. Fiat Panda – 10,314 units

She is always the Queen of the market. While waiting for the new generation to debut next July, the Fiat Panda won over 10,314 customers in April, confirming itself as the most popular model in Italy. Behind the 3.69 meter body, which allows it to be extremely agile in traffic, the best seller from Turin offers a passenger compartment for 4 people with a luggage capacity of 225 to 870 litres. While with regards to engines, it can count on bi-fuel petrol/LPG and mild hybrid units with a power of 69 to 85 HP spread across a range that includes various versions, also with 4X4 mechanics, available in several versions including the Cross urban SUV version. The price list starts from 15,500 euros.

2. Dacia Sandero- 5,179 units

The 5,179 units registered earned the car from the Romanian Renault brand the second step of the podium in the top ten for April. Offered in two body variants, Streetway sedan and Stepway crossover, the Sandero boasts superior category equipment: including an infotainment system with 8″ screen equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connection interfaces for pairing smartphones and tablets with the car. It can also count on an engine range with petrol and bi-fuel petrol/LPG units up to 110 HP. The extremely competitive list has a starting price of 13,250 euros.

3. Lancia Ypsilon – 3,792 units

Third place in the top ten, with 3,792 units registered, for the Lancia Ypsilon. Proposed for a few weeks in the new generation in the all-electric 115 kW (156 HP) and mild hybrid 100 HP versions, the Ypsilon is still available in the outgoing edition with mild hybrid and bifuel petrol/LPG units of 69 and 70 HP. Offered with a price list starting from 15,600 euros, it focuses on a unique and fashionable style to conquer the public, especially women, who pay attention to details and refined finishes.

4. Citroën C3 – 3,732 units

Already available in the new all-electric generation with 83 kW (113 hp), even in the previous edition still on sale the Citroën C3 continues to win approval and with 3,732 units registered it was the fourth most requested car here in April. On its part, the French car has an unconventional line, characterized by details such as the Airbumps on the sides, which distinguishes it from the competition. The basic model costs 18,350 euros and offers two petrol versions of 83 and 110 HP, as well as a diesel variant of 102 HP.

5. Toyota Yaris – 3,571 units

The Toyota Yaris won 3,571 customers in April and is placed fifth in the ranking. Among the few full hybrids in the “small” city segment, it uses a full hybrid powertrain in the 116 and 130 HP variants. It also offers the GR Yaris Circuit petrol version which features a 280 HP 1.6 turbo to give you track-like thrills. Prices start from 24,550 euros.

6. Ford Puma – 2,960 units

With 2,960 registrations, the Ford Puma occupies sixth place in the top ten for April. Immediately recognizable for its mini crossover bodywork which makes it very different from the 1997 sports coupé of the same name, it offers the choice between various mild hybrid petrol versions with power from 125 to 155 HP, in addition to the 200 HP ST sports variant. Prices start from 27,500 euros.

7. Renault Clio – 2,939 units

Seventh place in the ranking goes to the Renault Clio which registered 2,939 units in April. Offered with prices starting from 17,250 euros, the Losanga best seller has always been one of the leading models in Italy in the “B” segment of compact sedans. Among the winning features it can count on one of the richest engine ranges on the market which includes petrol, diesel, LPG bi-fuel and full hybrid units for a power range from 65 to 143 HP.

8. Peugeot 208 – 2,850 units

With 2,850 units registered, the Peugeot 208 was the eighth most popular car in Italy in April. Offered with a price list starting from 20,120 euros, the French model has recently undergone a restyling which has made it more aggressive and dynamic in line. It boasts a passenger compartment for 5 people with a boot with a load capacity of 387 to 1,163 litres. While regarding engines it offers various petrol versions, including mild hybrids, up to 136 HP. As well as electric variants of 100 and 115 kW (136 and 156 HP).

9. MG ZS – 2,656 units

The British crossover nationalized in China (MG belongs to Saic Motor of Shanghai) convinced 2,656 customers in April and achieved the penultimate position in the top ten. Starting price of 17,540 euros and the 4.32 meter long B-SUV bodywork are the main prominent features of the model, offered with a range of petrol engines up to 111 HP.

10. Volkswagen T-ROC – 2,620 units

The Volkswagen T-ROC closes the ranking with 2,620 units registered. The German SUV is offered in various petrol and diesel versions with power ranging from 110 HP to 300 HP for the spirited R 2.0 TSI variant. The latter, a sort of “high-wheeled” racing car, is capable of burning a hundred in just 5 seconds and uses features such as the all-wheel drive mechanics and the DSG dual clutch gearbox to give maximum performance. It costs 30,100 euros in the basic model.
