“No one can look the other way anymore: the plague of accidents at work affects everyone, because it affects both workers and the social and healthcare system. And it does not derive only, as one might imagine, from the introduction of dangerous work tools, from little compliance with regulations or from the insufficiency of controls and inspections”.
“If, in fact, the lack of a safety culture is the first indisputable risk factor – adds Maestripieri – it should be remembered that accidents are increasingly a consequence of excessive workloadsof the acceleration of working times and of a culture of performance and productivity that increases risk margins and which, when it does not cause an accident, in any case, causes an dangerous increase in stress“.
And again, continues the secretary of CISL Liguria, “the phenomenon of precariousness that nestles in false VAT numbersin internships, internships, in false so-called spurious cooperatives, in the illegal use of para-subordinate contracts or, worse, fictitious VAT numbers, in the absolute lack of training for new hires: these are the conditions that increase the safety risks in the workplace which need to be addressed”, he concludes Masters
