After the victory in game 1, San Marino Baseball also wins game 2 and game 3 in Macerata and completes the hat-trick. It’s a sweep for Celli and his teammates, who win the afternoon match 7-3 and then close the Saturday evening match 1-0 in the first extrainning. An excellent start to the championship, with the top of the Group A standings shared with Parma and Bologna, both with three successes over Bbc Grosseto and Bsc Grosseto.

RACE2

Titans immediately took the lead in the 1st when, with the bases full and one out, the former Lopez hit a sacrifice fly that was more than enough to make it 0-1. San Marino saves itself with the bases full in the bottom of the same second half, when Pomponi makes Di Turi hit in a defensive choice for the third elimination.

In the 3rd, however, Di Turi makes up for it when, with two outs, he hits a single in the center which is worth two points (2-1). It’s the overtaking, but the guests are good at recovering immediately with tenacity and determination. At the change of ends, in the top part of the 4th, Celli’s single and Angulo’s double generate the 2-2, while it is the subsequent double from Tromp that signs the 2-3.

Di Raffaele saves himself in a man-on-third situation at the 4th and 5th, giving the attack the opportunity to extend to the 6th. On Mazzocchi, who had just come on in Quattrini’s place, the bases were filled with a single from Angulo, a double from Pieternella and a bounce from Ferrini. At that point, it was Tromp’s double to the left that cleared the table, with the game split in two thanks to the three points at 2-6. The two teams then complete a back-and-forth in the 7th, with San Marino at 2-7 thanks to Angulo’s hit and Macerata at 3-7 after Carrera’s home run.

Luca Di Raffaele won, three hits for Tromp and Angulo.

RACE3

The tightest challenge of the weekend is resolved in the first extrainning. There were just 6 total hits, 4 for San Marino and 2 for Macerata, in a match in which the attacks struggled to read the pitches of the opposing pitchers.

In the 1st the teams produce something, with San Marino leaving two on base and Macerata ending the inning by ending up in double play, but the 0-0 remains. Then very little, with Anderson De Leon very effective on the guest mound and his home colleague, Moreno, good at harnessing the opposing clubs.

In the 5th San Marino does not take advantage of an opening double by Ferrini, while in the 6th Kourtis, having climbed the previous inning for De Leon, concedes a couple of base balls but closes by making Splendiani hit in the diamond. In the 7th the two teams only gain one base ball, with Angulo and Garcia, but without producing any points.

We go to the 8th and it is Pieternella’s swing that decides everything in an instant. The catcher hits a great blow to the right, Tomic goes to recover the ball but fails and gets injured, with Pieternella himself who meanwhile turns all the bases for an infield home run which makes it 0-1.

The advantage is maintained in the lower part by an excellent Pedrol. Carrera is eliminated on the diamond and Joseph is out on the fly by Celli, with Leonora keeping the game alive with a single and with Calcagni who, however, immediately afterwards, is the third out (strikeout). It ends 1-0 for San Marino.
