Born from the same platform, the Souo S 2000s however differ in size, use and superstructures. The GL is the direct competitor of the Gold Wing, and offers a large rear top case with passenger seat included, while the ST only has side bags, like the basic version of the Gold Wing.

Two tourers that directly challenge Honda’s category flagship, powered by an in-line six-cylinder of around 1,800 cc. Souo therefore aimed at the top of the category, offering its GL and ST with a 2,000 cc eight-cylinder engine and an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

However, the Chinese at GWM took inspiration from the Japanese company, both in terms of the engine layout and the chassis. The S 2000 chassis in die-cast aluminium It has a structure very similar to that of the Gold Wing, to which they are combined Hossack fork at the front with double wishbones and a more traditional monoshock at the rear.

Choosing a Hossack style fork brings with it numerous advantages on bikes of this size and weight, starting from reduction of sliding friction, with improved front response fluidity. The steering input, via the anchor points of the swing arms, is separated from the damping function provided by the monoshock, thus making more agile and comfortable handlebar maneuverability.

At the moment GWM has not provided specific details but it is conceivable that the suspensions could be electronic, given the level of technology present on these bikes.

The braking system is designed by Brembo, and on the front end it offers a double disc with radially mounted calipers.
