The 2023/24 season of the under 12 men’s group ends with great success volleyball of theToday. The team of young athletes from the 2012 and 2013 classes has always been at the top of the men’s group rankings in the Volley S3 red promotional category played from January to May, finishing in first place on the last of the 10 days. Some sets were more “sweaty” than others: the boys remember, for example, the return match against a fierce Besana on March 23rd. The only defeat was suffered at home in Oggione in the match against Powervolley on 20 April.
Then came the flattering invitation from the FIPAV Territorial Committee of Milan-Monza-Lecco to represent the territory at the regional phase of the second level S3 3×3 National Volleyball Trophy. So on the afternoon of May 12th the 8 volleyball players first beat their peers from Saronno at the net, ensuring they would play in the final, and finally gave way to Montichiari: an excellent, well-deserved second place.
But beyond the gratifying scores on the pitch, last Sunday afternoon had great promotional value. The young players were in fact able to meet and participate in exercises and experimental games with Professor Irene Ranalletti, National Fipav Teacher, trainer and point of reference for Smart Coaches in the Lombardy area.
In fact, the real challenge that the today’s club, already extensively involved in the women’s sector, has wanted to face for two seasons is to become a place to approach volleyball also in the men’s sector. The promotional strategy to be followed is very clear to the organizers in the club, who during the year that is coming to an end have activated with enthusiasm and seriousness a school project to introduce volleyball in the fourth and fifth classes of four primary schools in the area, completing the series of interventions with a promotional tournament in the Oratory building of Oggiono.
The project is challenging and ambitious, but at its core there is above all the desire and commitment of educators, coaches, Smart Coaches and managers who work in synergy so that more and more kids leave home and go to the gym to play, experiment, make mistakes , starting over, arguing, making peace, moving, having fun, touching, getting excited… in a word, growing.
