the manager explains the reasons for the renewal

Fabio Quartararo is one of the best talents in MotoGP and fighting to try to be in the top 10 is certainly something that generates frustration. When you’ve won a title and were second the following year, it’s hard to accept a drastic drop in ambition. And after a 2023 with a lot of criticism towards Yamaha, this year he started again with a more mature attitude, aware of the need to commit to doing a different job and making the M1 grow.

MotoGP, Maubant and Quartararo’s signing with Yamaha

He decided to accept the situation and was also convinced to renew the contract until 2026. In addition to a good financial offer, the new Yamaha technical project persuaded him to sign and discard the other possibilities. He sees the changes he asked for and is confident that the M1 will return to being a very competitive bike. When? Today this cannot be predicted.

Thomas Maubant, Quartararo’s friend and manager, spoke to TNT Sports of the decision to extend the contract with the Iwata company: “Now I can say that I have received offers from more or less everyone. In the end, Fabio knew straight away that he wanted to continue with Yamaha, because what we saw from the Sepang test, the improvement, made the choice easy. They showed a lot of interest in keeping him and he won’t forget that.”

Having seen concrete and significant changes, combined with a sense of gratitude, is something that influenced the final choice. Maubant is convinced that important results will return: “We are made like this, we never forget what has been done for us in the past. We know that Yamaha is one of the biggest brains in the motorcycle world and we know that the team is pushing hard. We know that sooner or later we will return, for sure. Yamaha is our family. Even if Fabio is angry after the races, when he arrives in the garage he is fantastic“.
