Volleyball, Rim Cerveteri holds onto the C series

Good news at Rim Sport Cerveteri: both top volleyball teams managed to retain the Serie C title at the end of a complex season in which, despite the difficulties, they achieved important positions in their respective groups. For several seasons, Etruscan volleyball has been playing in the highest regional category and this year too it has achieved a double that is nothing to be taken for granted. Both the men’s and women’s titles therefore remain in the municipality of Cerite which can boast two teams of absolute importance from a volleyball point of view. But let’s analyze the season in detail.

The season of the boys who failed to reach the play offs ended with a bit of regret, finishing the season in seventh place. In reality, at the beginning of the year, the objective was to achieve a good placing, but the very high ranking areas later proved to be within the reach of the team which, unfortunately, made some missteps. “We want to ensure that this is not repeated next season – declared Maura Rinaldi, vice-president of Rim Sport Cerveteri, who continued – the company aims to give a similar appearance, net of some changes. We can already announce that the technical guide will change and, indeed, I take this opportunity to thank Stefano Cenci and Mario Canti who will no longer be with us next year, but with whom we end up on very good terms. We made this decision due to an adaptation issue in the internal organization of the company with the aim of further extending our NumberOne project, a collaboration that we started with the Polisportiva Valcanneto and Bracciano Volley. However, Ilenia (Rinaldi, president of Rim Sport Cerveteri) and I are happy with the boys and we know that they can still give a lot.”
In the women’s field, the ranking once again says seventh place for the green and blue team, but with more complex dynamics in a season littered with various injuries. In this case, the objective was to reach safety, but the team proved to be very competitive and ready to compete with the top-ranking teams. To demonstrate this, important performances also arrived with the top of the class which reaffirmed the competitiveness of the squad. “We didn’t know what to expect after the serious injury of Elena Cisternino, our star striker. Above all because the girls who replaced her are two very young people: Lucia Maschietto and Alessia Gullo born in 2007 and 2008 respectively. Instead, they surprised us” confessed Rodrigo Ribeiro Miliante, coach of the team, also confirmed for next season. “Our squad is made up of 70% under 18s and they have all proven to be hard workers. Their rapid growth is certainly also the result of the work of the NumberOne project which allowed them to play in excellent youth categories. We will work to ensure that the team remains similar in its composition. However, we will have to try to make up for the departure of Danna Gomes Salgado, our setter, and hope that Ilenia, after an obligatory pit stop awaiting her, can return to playing at a high level. Our goal for next year is to conquer the place we deserve with the ambition of continuing to draw from our youth pool to build athletes who are increasingly valid. As a society we believe that this work with young people is fundamental and we will continue on this path.”
