Marino Volleyball does an encore: the men’s Under 15 team is still regional champion!

The Marino Volleyball does an encore. The president’s company Sante Marfoli won the Under 15 regional title that followed that Under 19: this is the third consecutive title in this category.

In the final staged yesterday afternoon in Anzio, the group trained by coach Stefano Vazzana beat Fenice 3-1. “It was a heartfelt and hard-fought match like every final – says the Marino Volleyball coach – We had faced and beaten Fenice in the previous provincial final, but we found a much improved opponent even though we were always superior in attack.

After winning the first two sets 25-18 and 25-21, we gave in in the third (23-25) and subsequently opened the fourth with an 11-0 run and then closed the games with the final 25-17.

We made too many mistakes in reception and attack, in some cases the boys went out of their way, but in the end we won the regional title and it is certainly an important thing, even more so considering that it is the third Under 15 title consecutive regional of Marino Volleyball, in a category that is the heart of the youth sector. This is the tangible demonstration that this club works meticulously on its basic sector and in fact many of these kids have grown up within Marino Pallavolo”.

A small (big) regret remains this season: “We missed the regional title treble given that the Under 17 it stopped in the semifinals and will not even make the national finals. There were a few days of confusion after that result, but this is also sport and we need to look forward.”

L’Under 15 of coach Vazzana has already targeted the date of May 30th, the day of the debut at the national finals to be held in Schio (in the province of Vicenza): “We start again from fourth place at last year’s national finals. This team has great physical and technical potential, if it manages to express them consistently it is an important group.

The journey will be a little more difficult than last year, but we are going to Schio with our heads held high and with great confidence. We held a tournament in Trento in February which gave us important information on the teams from other regions and on the average high level of the opponents, we will try to capitalize on that experience”.
