The Zebre Parma have released a medical bulletin in which the recovery path of four players in the squad, dealing with injuries of various degrees, is made official.

These are the third rows Iacopo Bianchi and Guido Volpi, the hooker Luca Bigi, the second row Dylan De Leeuw. For each of them the current United Rugby Championship season is considered over.

Bianchi, Bigi and De Leeuw have undergone surgery and the recovery times are also known, while Volpi will be subject to a re-evaluation in order to know in detail the post-operation management carried out for the knee injury.

On Monday 29 April Iacopo Bianchi underwent jaw surgery by Dr. Francesca Zito at the Maxillofacial Clinic of the University Hospital of Parma. The reduction and containment surgery with titanium plates was necessary following a trauma suffered last 27 April at Lanfranchi during the match against the Glasgow Warriors, which resulted in a compound fracture of the left parasymphyseal mandible. The operation was a perfect success and the estimated prognosis is forty days.

Luca Bigi underwent stabilization surgery on his left elbow following a trauma suffered on Sunday 7 April during the EPCR Challenge Cup round of 16 match against the Sharks, which resulted in a capsulo-ligament injury to the joint . The operation, performed on Tuesday 30 April at the Orthopedic and Traumatology Clinic of the Parma University Hospital by Dr. Filippo Calderazzi and his team, it was a perfect success and the estimated prognosis is four months.

Dylan De Leeuw suffered a sprained injury to his left ankle during the home match against the Glasgow Warriors, suffering a capsulo-ligament injury to the syndesmosis. On Thursday 9 May the South African second line underwent tibiofibular ligament stabilization surgery. The operation was successfully performed by Dr. Alessandro Avalle at the Medi Saluser clinic in Parma. The estimated prognosis is three months.

On Thursday 9 May Guido Volpi underwent stabilization surgery on his right knee following a sprain injury suffered during the match against the Glasgow Warriors, which resulted in a tear of the anterior cruciate and menisci. The operation was successfully performed by Dr. Paolo Adravanti at the Casa di Cura Città di Parma, the club’s healthcare partner. Recovery times will be evaluated more precisely in the coming weeks.
