“The Ducati team deserves it more than anyone”

Even though more than one expected him to win in Jerez, Pedro Acosta still learned a lot in that race weekend. He welcomed the tenth place finish, because he understood what didn’t work well and what mistakes he made. The subsequent test in Andalusia served to work on some aspects and there were some improvements. Now the MotoGP rookie can’t wait to test himself at Le Mans, where it will be the home grand prix for the Tech3 team.

MotoGP, Acosta excited for Le Mans

There is confidence for this weekend in France, he thinks he has what it takes to do well: “I have always been strong on this circuit – he told Motosan.es – since the first time in Moto3. I always made mistakes, but I was competitive all weekend. Here I got my first pole in Moto2 and then I was also leading the race for the first time. It suits my riding characteristics and I think it could benefit us a bit, we’ll see“.

His physical condition is good, he has gotten over the bruises that were left after the bad fall that occurred in Sunday morning’s warmup in Jerez: “It wasn’t that bad of a fall – explains the Mazarron pilot – and I didn’t get hurt too much. Only then I got up a little dazed, the stones had hit me in the mouth and my fingers hurt as if my hands had been cut. However, it wasn’t as strong as it seemed“.

Pedro and the future, his and Ducati’s

By the time of the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello, important decisions will be made with a view to 2025-2026. For example, Acosta could move from the GASGAS Tech3 team to the KTM team, which will certainly not happen during this championship: “The idea of changing teams in the middle of the year is stupid. Neither KTM will nor do I need it, it is not necessary. For now I’m fine where I am and I have no idea of changing“.

Pedro was also asked about who should be Pecco Bagnaia’s next partner in the official Ducati team and he did not hesitate to answer: “Jorge Martin, because he earned it more than anyone else. In the end he was second in the World Championship last year and he didn’t win because God didn’t want it. He is the leader of the standings even after the crash in the last race, which I think he would have won, being at the moment the strongest in the championship“. He has no doubt: Martin is the one who deserves that place more than Enea Bastianini and Marc Marquez.
