Jannik Sinner, Rafa Nadal’s bad suspicion: “The circle closes”

They will be gods Italian internationals in light version. Nothing SinnerNothing Alcaraz nor Berrettini to ignite the home crowd. All decimated by injuries. The reasons are many and different for each athlete but Rafa Nadal – someone who unfortunately knows a lot about injuries – tried to give an explanation. “The question is very simple. More games and the greater the possibility of getting hurt. But the discussion is much broader. When you push your body to the limit you eventually get injured. If the game gets faster and faster the risk of injury increases.”

The Spanish champion thinks on a double front. On the one hand the sporting one: “The large number of games that are played on hard surfaces is a complication because it subjects the body to significant stress and when playing on clay it may happen that you have problems”. On the other hand, the economic one: “This is the system and it is also based on need to earn… tennis players want it, tournaments want it. And when I say this I’m not just referring to the strongest and most important players. It is a circle that is closing and we who are part of it accept it. If it concerns business or sport itself, that’s another matter.”

Nadal, who will be on court, said he was sorry for the absence of Alcaraz and Sinner, respectively number one and two in the world: “It’s a It’s really a shame that two tennis players are missing who are among the strongest on the circuit. I imagine it was a bad shock for Italy to learn what happened to Jannik. But I’m sure he’ll be back on the pitch soon and will get to the top. I hope to see him and Carlos again at Roland Garros.”

As for his possible participation in the Roland Garrosthe tennis player remained optimistic: “Emotions are one thing, the sensations that the court gives are another. Everything clearly depends on the physical conditions. I’ll play with the desire to have fun and then we’ll see.”
