Club World Cup, FifPro against FIFA: “Stop the tournament or we will sue”

In a letter, the International Federation of Professional Footballers asks the world football organization to reschedule the tournament expanded to 32 teams which will be played in 2025

Among the teams qualified for the next one Club World Cup there is also Inter Of Simone Inzaghi. Right now the competition FIFA is under attack by the International Federation of Professional Footballers (Fifpro). The players and the national leagues, in a letter, say they are ready for legal action. “We will be forced to advise our members on the options available to them, both individually and collectively, to proactively safeguard their interests,” it further reads.

Unions and leagues say they are against adding another competition to the already crowded international calendar. “Players are being pushed beyond their limits, with significant risks of injury and impacts on their wellbeing and fundamental rights,” they explain. FIFA would therefore be invited to reschedule the Club World Cup which has been scheduled for June 2025 in the States. It is therefore also requested that the Intercontinental Cup scheduled for December 2024 be abolished, which involves the same continental champions who will play the Club World Cup, expanded to 32 teams, six months later.
