The governor of Liguria Giovanni Toti, according to what is alleged, made use of the right not to answer in the interrogation before the investigating judge. Toti is assisted by lawyer Stefano Savi. “We will ask next week to be interviewed. At the moment we are reading all the papers”, added the lawyer. “Afterwards – he concluded – we will ask for the house arrest to be revoked”.
The seizure of the 120 thousand euros of Esselunga’s payment has also been requested
Among the money for which preventive seizure was requested, as part of the investigation that led to the president of Liguria Giovanni Toti being placed under house arrest, there are also 120 thousand euros that Esselunga paid for advertising on the Terrazza Colombo in Genoa. According to the investigators, it would be an “illicit financing” of the Toti List, in exchange for the unblocking of two cases pending in the region. For this matter, in addition to the governor, his chief of staff Matteo Cozzani and the company’s board of directors Francesco Moncada are under investigation.
Salvini: “With the bugs from the magistrates I would like to know how many would remain”
“Since we cannot present a no-confidence vote to President Toti in the Regional Council next Tuesday, because he is suspended from office, we will still put political pressure on him by asking for explanations on what is happening. Already today, however, we are asking again for Toti to resign in light of what is happening Enough of disasters that put our Liguria at risk.” The Ligurian secretary of the Democratic Party told ANSA Davide Natale.
“Let the judiciary do what it has to do, but if every suspect resigns, Italy will stop tomorrow.” So did the deputy prime minister Matteo Salvini at the Royal Palace of Venaria, in the Turin area, he answers those who ask him about the legal case that led to the house arrest of the governor of Liguria Giovanni Toti. “I would like to know – added the Northern League leader – if there were bugs in the offices of some magistrate, how long he would continue to be a magistrate”.
Nordio: “It’s blasphemy to say that Toti has to prove his innocence”
“I have already expressed my opinion on the Toti case, not so much as a minister but as a magistrate. We must always have caution and respect, we will await the results of a possible appeal. It struck me that someone expects the suspect to prove his innocence , this is blasphemy in a democratic civilization. It is the accuser who must prove the guilt of the suspect. We await the results of this physiological dynamic of the trial.” Thus the Minister of Justice, Carlo Nordioanswering a question on the sidelines of the G7 in Venice.
