A full-page article appeared yesterday in the national newspaper “Il Sole 24 Ore” which talks about mental health in Italy as the “Cinderella of the national health service” with a big difference between our regions. the minimum threshold of 5 percent of investments that the regional presidents had made as commitments years ago is a dream… with a substantial difference between the various regions, Sardinia is the one that invests more than 5 percent. Guess where the Veneto region is classified? in eighteenth position with just 2.5 percent, just ahead of Basilicata…I said to myself “what a shame” yet the well-being of families should be important to the president of the region and mental health is a piece of primary importance. When I think that not many years ago the Veneto region was cited by the WHO as the best in the world for the healthcare system! we have fallen really low, these abysmal differences between regions should make us understand that there is a failure of regionalism in this sector. Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.
