In a video interview with EW, Chris Pineinterpreter of Captain Kirk in the reboot trilogy of Star Trek, recalled how he got the part. Here are his words:

I went for the audition. I didn’t get the role. I didn’t think about it anymore. 3/5 months had passed and I had completely forgotten about it. Then I went to do a [altro] film and my agent told me: “VDo you want to go audition for Star Trek again?”. And I replied: “Haven’t I already? I didn’t get the part. I wasn’t good“. And instead he told me: “They want me to come back and audition for JJ [Abrams, regista del film].”.

I remember going there and JJ was really funny. It was absurd. You’re sitting, standing, acting in a Hollywood office, talking about phasers and thrusters, while the battleship is sinking and the Klingons are chasing you. It’s acting with a capital R. JJ is very cheerful he is very responsive. It’s what an actor loves. We act for people and he is giving us a lot. So I went back to audition and they told me: “Spock is here”. The guy who plays Spock is Zachary Quinto. I knew Zach was Spock and I knew him because we trained in the same gym with the same trainer. Very Hollywood. Same nutritionist and same acupuncturist. The auditions are very… I found them very fun. [Ma] it is very disheartening. Then you make your way and find yourself on television… This is much more true then than today. Being in a movie was a very important thing.

The actor then adds that he would “love” to participate in a new film in the saga.

We remind you that the franchise has been on hold since 2016, the year in which Star Trek Beyond has “disappointed” at the box office, grossing “Alone” 344 million dollars. A fourth chapter has been in the works for some time, but its realization is not certain. The most recent news is the hiring of a new screenwriter, Steve Yockey, of which Pine himself said he was “surprised”.
