On Wednesday 8 May, the release of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes brings the box office to 635,339 euros (90,520 spectators) on 2,566 screens, +4% compared to 10 May 2023 and -77% compared to a week ago (but it was 1 May, such a marked decline was inevitable).
At the top of the top 10, the new episode of the franchise debuts The Planet of the Apes which starts with 154,272 euros and a good average of 467 euros per cinema (330). The previous chapter, The War – Planet of the Apes, on 13 July 2017 it started better with 228,816 euros, to close at 3.4 million euros. The main collection of the saga is that of The Planet of the Apes of 2001 with around 5.4 million euros which would seem unattainable.
Second position for Challengers with 77,567 euros (-81% compared to May 1st), for a total of 3,276,777 euros with an average of 211 euros in 368 cinemas. Luca Guadagnino’s film reached second place in the rankings among the director’s films, behind the unattainable Melissa P. with 6 million euros.
Third position for the documentary film on the Napoli championship I’ll be with you which closed the day with 73,454 euros for a total of 1,030,219 euros in five days and an average of 528 euros in 139 cinemas.
Fourth position for the Japanese anime Perfect Blue which returns to theaters after the April 22-24 event and grosses 44,999 euros (+574%) for a total of 527,366 euros. The cinemas in which the film is distributed have gone from 3 a week ago to 140 yesterday for an average of 321 euros.
Fifth position, down from third, for the action comedy The Fall Guy with 44,278 euros (-90%) for a total of 1,348,407 euros and an average of 146 euros in 303 cinemas.
Sixth position for the animated film Garfield – A tasty mission with 29,293 euros (-96%) for a total of 1,350,249. Behind him we find Confidence by Daniele Luchetti with 27,296 euros (-87%) for a total of 1,468,717 euros; in 2018 I am Storm it reached 1,721,600 euros.
Eighth position for the preview of Liberato’s secret with 25,180 euros in three cinemas with an average of 8,393 euros per structure.
