The new psychological thriller Mothers’ Instinct, featuring superstars Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain will arrive in cinemas from tomorrow 9 May distributed by Vertice 360, it has been officially banned for minors in Italy.
The film, due to the high psychological tension of the plot, got viewing ban for minors under 14 years of age: a provision, the one desired by the Commission for the classification of cinematographic works, absolutely unusual for a cinematographic work of the thriller genre, but which perhaps contributes to underlining the impactful filmic strength of this film in which the two world-famous actresses have, still once, displayed incredible acting skills with the intention to attract and stimulate the viewer’s attentionwho will be amazed at the unexpected epilogue until the end.
The two Oscar-winning stars lend their faces to Alice and Céline respectively, best friends and neighbors, whose seemingly perfect lives in a suburban town in 1960s America are suddenly turned upside down by a tragic accident involving one of their children. First work by Benoit Delhomme – who is also director of photography in the film, a role for which he is already known worldwide – this refined noir with a fast-paced pace and Hitchcockian atmospheres follows the progressive deterioration of the relationship between Alice and Céline, undermined by guilt, suspicion and paranoia.
