Italy has officially banned HHC and derivatives

As Austria, Finland and France have already done, the first EU countries to ban HHC, Italy has also made illegal hexahydrocannabinol and its derivatives, inserting them in table I of narcotic substances of Presidential Decree 309/90.

This change specifies that the HHC, precisely from July 28thwill assume the same legal significance as THC and anyone who illegitimately holds, produces or distributes it will be prosecuted.

HHC AND DERIVATIVES DECLARED ILLEGAL IN ITALY: A “HIGHLY DANGEROUS” SUBSTANCE

As stated in the decree published in the Official Gazette, HHC, HHCO and HHCP have been included in table I of narcotic substances and therefore classified as highly dangerous substances, comparable to hard drugs, contrary to cannabis which is instead in table II. But why did this happen?

Although hexahydrocannabinol was first synthesized in 1944, it has only gained popularity in the last year. Sold as “similar to THC” in fact, it filled shop windows across the West, from the United States to Europe, including Italy.

There have been thousands of consumers who have used these products, because HHC, from the little research available so far, seems to boast the intoxicating effects of THCbut milder. Strong interest also noted by governments, which are slowly banning this substance.

For the entry into force of the new decree we have heard the lawyer Lorenzo Simonetti and the Lawyer Claudio Miglio of Legal Protection of Drugs, also surprised by the inclusion of the molecule in table I instead of in table II. A somewhat questionable decision that will have to be confirmed by the Ministry of Health.

“The theme of the HHC was Pandora’s Box following a massive consumption started from the United States to Italy, which clearly creates a hiatus, because in some countries it is legal and in others not – commented the lawyers of Tutela Legale Narcotics – And Italy has decided to ban it on the basis of some studies which highlight its strong psychotropic effects”.
