Grosseto. “The hasty cat makes blind kittens. This is how we could summarize the discussion in the second commission on the investigation by the Court of Auditors regarding some aspects, which are not very significant, linked to the funds intended to overcome the pandemic period”.
To declare it is Giacomo Gorimunicipal councilor of the 5 Star Movement of Grosseto.
“If there is a problem it is in the normal administrative activity of bodies and institutions, to which the municipal offices have given a broad, detailed and qualified response – continues Gori –. If anything, the ‘bombshell’ figures that have been launched in recent days on newspaper they concern the renegotiation of mortgages, but on this specific point a national problem has emerged; ergo, if the Tuscany section of the Court of Auditors were right, the coffers of several municipalities would be ruined. Because everyone, without exception, acted like us. Furthermore, the offices reassured the commissioners about a possible and unlikely disastrous scenario, i.e. about the economic sustainability of the municipal administration; second ergo: from the ‘bomb’ to the ‘bubble’, of soap. But then why did the united opposition, with the exception of the 5 Star Movement, sign the request to convene the competent commission and issue press releases on the disturbing scenarios for the Municipality’s coffers and for citizen services?”.
“Because even today we tend to use old schemes to try to reach political consensus: exploitation, media hype, sweetening an unsweetened situation – points out Gori -. We at the 5 Star Movement know only one way of doing politics: achieving results for citizens. This is what we are doing for the issue of pedestrianization of the historic center; This is how we are behaving on the age-old problem of the Beveraggio ditch. This is what we did when we managed to get the entire provincial centre-right team to formally undertake commitments towards the citizens in the recent elections”.
“All this is evidently not appreciated by one or more opposition group leaders in the city council who decided, or have decided, not to involve us in the request to convene the commission on the Court of Auditors, signed by all the others – ends Gori –. A very clear political message of rupture with the 5 Star Movement. But they did well, because we would never have signed and above all we would never have exploited the issue through a statement that was at least inappropriate, from our point of view. Furthermore, making one think of some responsibility for the work of the offices, given the topic. It would have been enough to make a visit with the manager and official to understand the reality of things and avoid a less than edifying position. We ask ourselves: is it so difficult to sacrifice a few votes in exchange for greater correctness, intellectual honesty, the achievement of objectives that are not purely party-related, but useful to the community? Not for us.”
“It’s a problem that doesn’t concern us. And citizens must always know this. After all, we do not nominate leaders who make promises already knowing they cannot keep them – ends Gori -, but let’s write #Peace on the symbol with which we present ourselves in front of the voters”.
