At the ‘Città di Cona’ victories for Valandro and Mangolini. The historic running event, now in its forty-eighth edition, was held yesterday, one of the classics of Ferrara running, organized by the Folgore Cona of president Fabio Nava, sponsored by the Municipality of Ferrara and Uisp Ferrara committee. The meeting for all members was in via Comacchio in the square in front of Arci Cona. An event that saw around three hundred and fifty participants including competitive athletes and recreational athletes. In the day’s program, the first to start were those of the youth categories with the 1.2 km mini running, which ran along Via Comacchio towards the center of Cona. At the end it was the turn of the first overall competition over the 5 km distance. At the starting line the female category and the veterans. Among the women, a race in which the young athlete from the lower Ferrara area, Caterina Mangolini, took the lead, leading Gloria Venturelli. Then it was the turn of the start reserved for the most awaited race, the competitive men’s, senior and amateur category, which saw the athletes compete over the distance of 10km, i.e. two laps of 5km. A chronicle of the race which saw the most anticipated athletes emerge from the first 5km, including Federico Valandro from Monseli, more protagonist than ever in the latest races in the Ferrara area. The path has remained the one tested over the years. Departure from Cona on via Comacchio reaching Cocomaro di Cona, then turning onto via della ginestra at Cocomaro di Focomorto, via Trigaboli and reaching the arrival in Cona. Among the women, the final overall podium was therefore won by Caterina Mangolini (Atletica Delta Ferrarese), ahead of Gloria Venturelli (Atletica 85 Faenza) and third by Demetra Tarozzi (ASD Pontevecchio Bologna). On the same distance of 5 km victory in the master category victory for Agostino Belgiori (Salcus), second Luciano Magagnoli (Salcus) and third Memmo Cesareo Marciano (Atletica Castenaso). The overall men’s podium over the 10 km distance, victory for Federico Valandro (Quadrilatero), second Federico Antonioli (Atletica Bondeno) and third Claudio Cavalli (Avis Castel San Pietro).
