The adventure of the Cus Molise eleven-a-side football selection got off to a bad start in the final phase of the National University Championships. The Molise people raise the white flag against Cus Cagliari. A good first part of the match by the Molise team was counterbalanced by a subdued recovery. The Islanders took advantage of this and brought home the success. In the first 45′ the two teams created several chances but were unable to hit the big target. In the second half the match unblocks. Cus Cagliari progresses thanks to a curling shot from Melis which goes behind Campobello for the 0-1. The Molise people try to reorganize their ideas but fail to make a breakthrough in the Cagliari rearguard. On the contrary. The guests found the second goal thanks to a header from Fiori who headed a corner kick into the net.
Cus Molise, stung by pride, reacts. Pistillo, on a free kick, passes the ball through a forest of legs and scores the 1-2. However, it was not enough to complete the comeback because Cus Cagliari found the hat trick with a restart that led Serra to wedge himself into the area. Parmentola makes a foul on him. For race director Cinalli it is a penalty. Pilosu appears on the spot and makes no mistakes. Thus it ends with the Cagliaritans winning 3-1. “A good first half was not enough in which like our opponents we played good football – explained the Cus Molise coach Barrea at the end of the match – unfortunately in the second half we had a physical decline and we lowered ourselves too much, giving way to our adversaries.”
Tomorrow Barrea’s boys will face, starting at 12, Cus Sassari who was beaten 3-2 by Cus Camerino. Pambianchi’s boys, however, will challenge Cus Cagliari.
