Terni, the students hosted by the railway police: ‘lesson’ on legality and safety

An extraordinary Monday morning for the students of the 2nd class of the Marconi comprehensive institute and the 5th grade of the Le Grazie primary school in Terni. For them a special ‘lesson’ on safety and legality in the home of the railway police: the staff of the permanent position first explained the tasks and then illustrated the aspects linked to safety in the railway sector and above all the behaviors to avoid and to adopt in stations and on trains, with particular reference to young people.

Awareness

«News events which occurred throughout the national territory have been described – it is underlined – involving young people who were victims of accidents deriving from risky behaviour, including crossing the tracks, distraction resulting from the use of headphones for listening to music while staying in the station, attempts to board with a moving train, throwing objects in the direction of passing trains, illegal entry into forbidden areas, soiling and damaging material and infrastructure railways. The issues addressed were illustrated not from a sanctioning point of view but with the aim of conveying to children the awareness of the consequences that certain behaviors have on their own and others’ safety. The very young users were also given advice on how to avoid pickpocketing and theft on board the trains.”
