Operation by the Guardia di Finanza of Pescara between Abruzzo and Marche with thousands of fake brands seized between Civitanova Marche and the Pescara station. “Stop FAKE” is the name of the action plan to protect Made in Italy
In one case, the retail shop in the Pescara area and the storage center in Civitanova Marche (MC). In the other,
a man on the run who throws away thousands of labels of the well-known Colmar brand. In total, there are over 60 thousand
counterfeit products ended up seized thanks to investigations carried out by the Fiamme Gialle of the capital
Adriatic on product safety and protection of Made in Italy, as part of the “STOP
FAKE”.
In the first set of checks, carried out at a local business, thousands of items were found
false. Unsafe earrings, bracelets, necklaces and rings, without adequate packaging and information
on the possible presence of toxic material such as nickel. Going up the commercial chain, financiers have
traced the supplier of the goods, a wholesaler of Chinese origins based in Civitanova Marche (MC),
reported for fraud on the market, as he did not have the documentation relating to the laboratory tests on the
heavy metals (Nickel, Cadmium and Lead) present in the products sold in the maximum percentages foreseen.
Subsequently, during a check near the Pescara station, the military identified another subject who, in running away, got rid of a bag containing over 2,500 Colmar designer labels, which turned out to be fake and counterfeit, for which a complaint was filed against unknown persons.
“Counterfeiting – states the Provincial Commander of the Guardia di Finanza of Pescara, Col. t.ST Antonio Caputo – is a phenomenon that multiplies illegality. It fuels various sectors of the underground economy, from illegal immigration to illegal work, from tax evasion to money laundering. The objective is to disarticulate the entire distribution chain of counterfeit goods and trace them back to the production centers, through constant analysis to protect the market, fair competition and the health of citizens”.
Investigations continue to identify other channels of supply of illegal goods and the additional subjects involved.
