Grifone brings applause, winning trio at Altopascio in the playoff final of group E

GROSSETO – Historic evening at the Carlo Zecchini with Grosseto’s 3-0 victory over Tau Altopascio in the dry final of the Serie D playoffs. In a year in which the red and whites were among the favorites to win the championship, this result still arrived very heavy, which projects the club of owner Lamioni among the candidates for the repechage for the wonderful goal of jumping from category to series C (photo by Paolo Orlando).
First thrill for the hosts in the quarter of an hour with Riccobono’s crossbar, assisted by Grasso; Marzierli’s rebound was also off target. The guests’ first chance in the 20th minute on a corner, with Meucci sending it high. In the 25th minute, Saio scored an own goal with Raffaelli with his hands tied, but the assistant said he was offside. Another not irresistible attempt on each side, then Rinaldini tries twice in two minutes, first with a shot from distance and then inspiring Marzierli, but the ball falls prey to the Tau rearguard. In the 36th minute, an irresistible incursion from Grasso and another assist for Marzierli, who sends it into the net to make it 1-0. Ovation from the local fans, always numerous and cheering, in a Zecchini animated by sixteen hundred spectators. On the opposite front, in the 42nd minute a free kick from Lombardo finds Capparella, but the result is an unsuccessful shot.

Not even a minute into the second half and the Grifone doubled their lead: another vitriolic incursion from Grasso, on the right wing, with an assisted shot in the center which the rival goalkeeper failed to block, favoring Sacchini’s stealing touch. First substitutions on the Amaranth front, then in the quarter of an hour a save by Raffaelli following a shot from new substitute Andolfi. Capparella’s free kick hits the barrier. Grosseto dangerous in the 26th minute with Rinaldini, who from close range forces Di Biagio to overcome himself. Cretella also took a shot in the 36th minute, but an opposing player shielded him. Two minutes and the newly entered Bensaja serves Sabelli, who however sends it wide. A few seconds and the bulls regain the ball and score again with Sacchini, author of an uncatchable low shot, to the jubilation of the home crowd. Final without major shocks, with the last substitutions of a match now channeled to the advantage of the Maremma team.
