Fulgor Fidenza-Ferrara Basket 2018. The report cards

by Elisa Fiorini

Ferrara Basket capitulates in the final moments of game 1 at Fulgor Fidenza’s home. A two-faced match by the Este team, deceived by the +6 at two turns of the clock at the end of the match.

Romondia: without infamy and without praise the performance of the very young player at Ferrara Basket, who maneuvers well when called upon. In the finale Benedetto prefers to rely on more expert hands than his own. Rating: 6

Drigo: the captain plays his usual solid game as a silent hero. He gets hurt in the third quarter, but his return to the parquet is nothing short of providential with the triple that seemed to have given Ferrara game 1. We know the epilogue, but it is still a good test for him. Rating: 7

Kuvekalovic: in the third quarter he drives Fulgor’s defense crazy with triples and penetrations. He gets lost at the end, but keeps things afloat in moments of greatest offensive difficulty. Rating: 7

Sankarè: he showed great desire in defense in the fourth set, containing Fidenza’s fury together with Yarbanga, preventing the home team from breaking away in the score. The coach dirtied his performance a bit, giving away a few points which, in a key phase like the fourth quarter, hit like a boulder. Rating: 6

Porfilio: important contribution in the second quarter, he puts in a fundamental bomb in the most difficult moment in attack for his team. Used little in the second half, he still shows enthusiasm when involved by his teammates. Rating: 6

Yarbanga: valuable in attack and defense, he puts a lot of determination in rebounding and dominates in defense with muscles and character. Rating: 6.5

Guerra: used little by coach Benedetto, scores a very important triple in the fourth quarter, but there is little else to report. Rating: 6

Cecchetti: the big man from Este works a lot, finds various sometimes complicated points and with patience manages to create space for his teammates at the arc. A few too many errors at the end, but still an evening where the pivot had an impact. Rating: 6.5

Ballabio: blessing and delight in the evening. Without the two bloody turnovers at the end, he probably would have been the MVP today too. After a splendid game, where number 24 led Ferrara Basket with points and steals, the last 2′ irreparably tarnished the playmaker’s performance. To give a grade you need to take an average: 6

Marchini: good game from the guard, who finds points and solutions in the intermediate phases of the match. He too gets lost a bit at the end, with the ball stopping on the rim and Fidenza celebrating, but it’s still a game of character for him: 6.5
