Anthony, inspector serving at the police station Nesima (Catania), receives the relatives of a young man, agitated and in tears, who tell him that the lad he had recently left home, leaving a farewell note for his children and wife. On the phone, to his father, he answered sobbing and confirmed his intention to end it. Antonio, however, manages to enter into a conversation and slowly wins the trust of the boy, who feels reassured by the policeman’s words, telling him where he was and agreeing to meet him.
Antonio, alone and in civilian clothes, thus goes to the agreed appointment and, after having listened to the man’s outburst for over an hour and having made him understand that it was only a moment of fragility, he manages to convince him to follow him in the police station where, in tears, he hugs his loved ones again, still shaken by what happened.
In the following days, the boy’s family, in a letter addressed to the Police Headquarters, thanked Antonio and the other policemen from the “Nesima” police station. I hope that the young man can soon find balance and serenity again.
