End of May, bad weather doesn’t let go; Let’s see where more rain will fall

As a famous song said, we are still experiencing a “cursed spring” from a meteorological point of view. And these conditions will accompany us at least until the end of May, in fact the bad weather doesn’t want to let go.

It’s all the fault of a very unstable and very lively perturbed flow of currents. This means that even in the next few weeks of Spring (the meteorological season will end on May 31st) we will have to deal with a series of cyclones on a collision course with our country and, consequently, with many opportunities for rains and thunderstorms.
There map below highlights the passage of cyclones (indicated by the letter “B“) which move from the North Atlantic towards the Mediterranean basin. Be careful though, as often happens this season, this does not mean that the days will be totally compromised by precipitation, on the contrary; these phenomena often last a few hours before the sun returns (the classic spring instability).

As early as next week, and at least until 28-29, we should therefore still expect strong instability: according to the latest updates, the regions of Central-North, more exposed to storm fronts with this type of configuration. The African anticyclone could only make its appearance in the far south and on the two major islands, favoring greater atmospheric stability here.
The handover between Spring and Summer will therefore not take place before the start of Junewhen high pressure could be able to guarantee more sunshine and generalized heat across the entire country.
